AMD dual core help

This address gives considerable amount of advice on fixes for the AMD Dual core.

I followed it and was able to get my x2 going. It pretty much follows the lines that Skuzzy posted with some additional fixes. At least I hope it keeps working. Flew 3 hours tonight and no issues. Probably the main thing I did was delete the PerfEnablePackageIdle word in boot.ini. That word comes from the processor drivers according to this site. Apparently some games run with it and some don't. I noticed in the hardware and software forum it was mentioned as a solution. Sorry can't remember who posted it.

Actually it has to do with the version of Windows XP you have.

Uhg!

btw It was the usepmtimer that I deleted. I didn't delete the PerfEnablePackageIdle.

Skuzzy, I have windows xp home should I install that? Should I install Windows (Gulp) Vista or would that cause even more issues? This morning I can't get the XP Pro to boot properly. The desktop Icons won't appear.
I know you don't like to recommend anything but I'm desperate here.

I flew several hours last night with no issues and then this a.m. wham, they are back. Oops after 4 reboots the system came up.

What's wrong with this industry anyway. It use to be plug n play and now I need to read volumes of material, research countless databases, spend way too much money, and worse use the swag system.
