Herbal Cures for being sick
« on: January 04, 2008, 09:08:32 PM »
Right now I feel like I am on my death bed.  I have all the symptoms of the flue, accept 10 x's worse, and I absolutely need to sleep tonight.  I know if I take nyquil, it will knock me out for 2 hours, but I will spend 2:30AM until 7:00 AM tossing and turning, and maybe sleeping for 5 minute intervals which will in fact seem like hours to me....

I am not looking forward to trying to sleep tonight, but I have to attempt a very important day tomorrow, so I need to try.

Does anyone have any family secrets that I could try?

....but a really BIG one!
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

NyQuil usually works for me, but I think there's some other "Night Time Formula" brands out there that do the job.

Since I work 3 overnights a week, I can relate to the difficulty of sleeping regular hours.  That's when I take one Advil PM.  2 makes me move in slow motion come morning.

Or, the ole reliable...Benadryl

Herbal...tea has caffeine...I'd avoid that.

Flu?
Do you have coughing?
I remember one particularly evil one which in fact got cured with Scotch.
(Never had trouble with flu ever since :D)

Anyway, the recipe:

1 newly made bed in a warm room.
1 shower.
2 double Scotch. (or more)
Preferred addition is Vick's menthol chream for the chest and 2 towels.
And some water to drink as well as a strong heart.

Okay , take one double scotch, and then have a long long hot and hotter shower. After the shower you drink the other doze of the scotch, and then get yourself comfortably into the bed. If you have the menthol creme, rub it on to your chest, and put a towel on top. Make sure you keep warm, think of something nice, and then fall asleep, - if this works you will wake up healthy as a horse.
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)
