Only applicable if you have a router or if your software firewall has port based settings available.

If you guys can't help (and you haven't), why bother posting?  I'm all for cutting up, but is a tech support post from a player who can't connect the right place for that?.

Got to the Router setup screen, set the port range, still nothing. Is there a thread on router setup for noobs or something around here?

Every router is different, unfortunately.  I do not have access to a Linksys router.  All routers have a built-in firewall though.  They all default to allow normal Internet stuff.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried power cycling the router?  Consumer routers ar enot the most robust routers around and need to be re-booted occsionally.

If possible, you could also try by-passing the router to see if the problem persists.

Ok, so it is the router.

What model router?  Even Linksys is not consistent between models.

Maybe you have heard of this one Skuzzy.....

(keep in mind I am speaking XP or earlier here, not sure about Vista)

A friend of mine is network admin at a local hospital.  When they get new rigs to set up, before they run ghost or their disc image or whatever, they ditch Norton AV (which sometimes comes pre-installed).  They ALSO use a program that might even be free/shareware called NONAV
(NONortonAntiVirus), because the normal Norton uninstall doesn't remove everything.  This NONAV rips it out by its guts though.

But whatever the problem is, I say BLAME COMCAST (even if you don't have it) it's all their fault.

I have heard of that utility.  The problem is there is nothing that can undo the patches Norton and McAfee apply directly to the Windows kernel.

The only way I have found to make a computer appear as if Norton or McAfee has not been installed is to do a complete installation of the operating system again.

Of course, that is not an option with most OEM computers, which is why I stay away from OEM computers as well.
