field orientation

This may be a question for you map builders in particular.

I'm doing a little more level bombing these days than I used to (ok, that was about zero but I digress :D  ).  Is there any logic to the way the fields are oriented?  It used to be (I think) that you could look at the clipboard and depend on the way the field was oriented there to be able to tell how it is on the map.  That doesn't seem to be the case now.

Any clarification is appreciated.

They are the way the clipboard shows on all the older small maps.  Not so on the big maps, nor a very few of the newer small maps.

Strats seem to align with the clipboard on all maps.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

Greetings,

All fields, Towns, Strat Targets, and Ports may be rotated.  (obviously, Ports will rotate to be on the water :) )  I did ask this question in the Terrain Forum - Mr. Skuzzy did provide an answer.

It just depends on whether the map builder wants to take the default facing or play around with it.  I would guess the some map builders in the past didn't take the time to rotate the maps for whatever reason.

I do not believe the clip board icons have a relationship to how the field actually runs on the ground.

Regards,
