Ok, so im just currious, i was watchin Dog Fights, and they were talkin bout the F6F, well, they said that every 5 bullets shot from each gun, was an incindiary round? i was just wondering if that HT accually put that in the game. For those that dont know what an Incindiary round is

INCENDIARY AMMUNITION IS LOADED WITH A BARIUM/ALUMINUM COMPOUND IN
THE FORWARD PORTION OF THE PROJECTILE. WHEN THE PROJECTILE STRIKES
A RELATIVELY SOLID OBJECT IT DETONATES WITH A BRIGHT FLASH AT
APPROXIMATELY 3,000 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT TO IGNITE COMBUSTIBLE
MATERIAL.

Well first off and an F6F is not a "Wildcat" its a "Hellcat" and why would we need that, if we have 6 .50's that would do the trick already.

It was discussed a little more in depth a few years ago, but IIRC, every 50 cal round is a combination of AP, I, and HE, so that some rounds upon striking would just make holes, some would cause more damage, and some would touch off a fire, with the goal of simulating the appropriate mix of ammo types without modelling 5 different types of ammo for a single loadout.

Not 100% certain, but I think that was the basic premise/theory. I don't know if it's randomized like oil or fuel hits, or if each round has a fixed chance to yield whatever result, or how exactly it works.
