You could dip a piece of bread in syrup and sprinkle sugar over it.  Maybe go crazy and roll it up with some grape jelly in the middle!

I was 9 when I left Austin, so that was 20 years ago, I've seen them there when I've gone back to visit family, but haven't had them.

I tried a krispy creme donut without the glaze once, and it was not good.  Yet on the other hand they are tasty when hot, glazed, and right off the production line.
