JG-54 Grünherz AAR of the final day of hostilities
« on: January 24, 2008, 10:43:53 PM »
At approximately 2130 CST a JG-54 Grünherz sortie consisting of 7 Focke Wolf 190 Anton 5's departed out of airfield 5 with a heading of 210.  Upon reaching the mission specified altitude of 3,000 meters the flight formed an echelon right formation and turned west to a course heading homing on the radio beacon of allied airfield 23.  The terrorflieger mission objective was the radar and ammunition facilities protected by allied forces based at airfield 23.

The mission was a total success.  Radar facilities were crippled by 40% during the initial run.  The ammunition factories were also similarly decimated, no doubt causing substantial reduction to the allied fighting strength in the offensive rumored to take place imminently in the Italian theater.

Upon egress of the target area the Grünherz were intercepted by a high Spitfire which was summarily dispatched by myself with the assistance of flügelmann Storch and flügelmann TruKill.  A P38 was also directed to our location and was brought down by flügelmann Truekill with the assistance of flügelmann Storch.

Two airframes were damaged beyond repair, one to battle damage and one to fuel starvation.  The pilots however were quickly recovered, transferred to the Italian theater, and await the arrival of fresh Messerschmitt Bf-109 Gustav's.
