I saw this on DIGITAL PROJECTION at The Rave here in Vegas.
There's no turning back to film projection after you see this in digital.

Rambo III was the best. L33t to the max. I mean, like, when he flies that, like, Hind chopper. Awesome! And even though, like, you know its not a real Hind... I mean come on, it's still double cool. Muhajadeen-tastic, dude!

Ahem. Rambo IV? For god's sake. When are hollywood going to get back above a ratio of 10:1 in the 'films that are new and fresh : re-hash of 3rd sequel' stakes?

People are incredibly stupid and lazy.
War! Never been so much fun. War! Never been so much fun! Go to your brother, Kill him with your gun, Leave him lying in his uniform, Dying in the sun.

It's Al Gore, Rambo is all out on saving the enviroment from global change. Very educational.

Not being sarcastic.
The way I look at it is
War is gory. Why is it you think anyone who has ever been to it thinks its so terrible?

In any event. How was the movie?

I think I'll start watching the movies first THEN read the books.

That can work, although sometimes a movie is more satisfying than its book, e.g., Jaws.

I've taken to seeing the movie then reading the book. I find I can enjoy both that way.

Sometimes though The bok makes me mad at the movie.
Jurrassic Park was like that.
Loved the movie. then read the book.  After I read the book I was like. "Why the @#@$ didnt they make THIS movie??
In JP the movie was good. but the book was GREAT. As good as the movie did. I think it would have done even alot better at the box office had they been more loyal to the book. Two completely different stories.

I dissagree with Jaws. Read the book. then saw the movie. I think I was like 13-14 at the time.
The book was better IMO And the fact the Hooper was doinking Brodys wife only added to the story. LOL

Band of Brothers. is one of the few movies I've seen that was almost entirey loyal to the book. And was just as good

In the first Rambo, over an hour was cut of the forest scene.  I think that was the best part imho.

umm Dyanamite, First blood, he killed the guy in the helicopter, at least one of the guys in the woods, and the sheriff at the end with the M60 through the ceiling.

IIRC when the set up the military tent to hunt him in the woods they mention a few officers killed.
I don't know what to put here yet.

i didnt contradict that. i said it was awesome. but it is most likely overkill gore which stops it being horrific aka saving ryan beach scene and makes it just damn funny.

'hey look, that guy is still running without a head'  is funny in rambo, its not in saving private ryan.

I think it's ironic that someone who is so actively involved in gun control efforts with the Brady Bunch has made such a fine living out the the irresponsible, Hollywood fantasy glorification of firearm-related violence.

I'll not give this clown another penny as long as I can help it. Actually, that has been my goal since the mid 1980s, but I got suckered once at a drive in where Rambo III was the third movie.

Hollywood is full of them. A bigger nest of money-grubbing, hypocritical h'oes you will never find. And they never meant that gun control should be applied to "them". They only want it applied to the unwashed masses out there.

You know, I did indeed forget that scene.  But now that you mention it, I do indeed recall that.

I never bought any of the Rambo movies on tape or DVD.   I've watched them a few times on TV, but I believe those showings were heavily edited for Television.

So maybe that was what struck me.   The last times I saw them were on TV, and not at the theater.   And the TV versions were definitely toned down.

That is true.   Sometimes gore can be an essential part of telling a story.

But other times, it can seem gratuitous.

One of the worst Movies of all time was last year's movie "Shoot 'em Up", starting Clilve Owen, Paul Giamatti, and Monica Bellucci.

It had the most stupid and obscene plot and action that I have ever seen.   The movie starts out with hitmen brutally gunning down pregnant women who are almost full term.   Paul Giamatti plays the monstrous leader of the assassins, and Clive Owen tries to save one of the women.   Although she escapes and manages to give birth, she ends up being killed too.   But Owen then manages to rescue her baby.

Clive Owen plays a vegetarian ex-special operations man, and is a master at shooting handguns.   He and his father operated a gun store when he was younger, until one day he sold a gun to a man who then later that week murdered his wife and daughter.   This caused Owen's character a lot of pain, and he joined the military to try to forget his loss, and thus became a highly trained killer.  Owen has a fondness for eating carrots in the movie, and actually uses carrots to kill a couple of bad guys during the course of the film in some rather bloody and ridiculous ways.

Later in the movie you find out that the babies are all clones made from a powerful politician, who is dying from a terminal illness.   The plan is to use the harvested bodies of the baby clones to cure the politician's illness.   I forget all of the stupid stuff that was said, as it was so ridiculous.

Well, it then turns out that this politician is a leader in the Gun Control movement in Congress.   So the owner of a leading gun manufacturing company in the United States hires the assassins to then kill all of these mothers before their clone babies can be born and harvested, so that the politician will then die from his illness, and not outlaw guns in America.

The most senseless and stupid movie ever made.   It made virtually every movie reviewer's 10 worst list for 2007.

The movie does have a "happy" ending, though, as guns do end up being outlawed in the USA.  Clive Owen, Monica Bellucci, and the rescued baby are the only characters still left alive at the end of the movie.   Everybody else dies from gun violence.
