Vertical Component of Convergence?
« on: January 26, 2008, 02:35:28 PM »
1) Does convergence setting have a vertical component?  For example, if I set my convergence for 600 yds do I have to aim LOW when the con is at 400 yds?

2) Does convergence take into account the drag and decelleration of the rounds?

I aim high when the con is at d6 and my convergence is set to d4, but I'm not sure that I should be doing that either.

Yes, I know whtat you're thinking, 600 yds?  Are you out of your mind?  Well, yes actually.  I'm trying to perfect the extra long range deflection shot.  When you bounce a turnfighter in your Jug or Hawg imagine his surprise when he does his last second break turn and you start landing hits from some insane range.  I get hits about 25% of the time and want to get better at that.

As BaldEagl said, there is a vertical component.

It gets real confusing when you think what happens as a result of that when you bank your airplane, or even fire while inverted.

Firing while banked left will make your rounds hit WAY left, and LOW.

Firing while inverted will make you shoot very high from your upside-down perspective, which is actually shooting way low from a side perspective.  The guns are sighted in to allow for gravity, firing from any angle other than right-side-up messes things up.  Gravity is "reversed" while inverted, hehe.

Shooting a scoped rifle- tilting the rifle left or right a few degrees will have a nasty effect on accuracy...

When in flight type .target 600 or whatever you choose.
It will set a bullseye target at 6oo yards to the north.

If you keep your convergence set to 600 and set target to 200 it should hit high.

The target command works in offline, not sure about TA,DA,MA.

it works in the TA, but I don't think it comes up in MA or DA.

The target works in the DA and main arenas.
