strange problem
« on: February 10, 2008, 05:21:24 AM »
I have been having a problem with the game crashing to desktop.

I was playing last night for awhile and all was well. I took a short break started the game back up and when I selected an aircraft and hit the runway button to spawn the game crashed. I tried this online and offline as well

The strangest part is that I can jump in a field gun or tank with no problems. The  sound seems to be working properly as does everything else so long as I'm not in an aircraft.

I double checked that all my video and sound drivers were up to date and ran dxdiag where no problems were detected.

I am far from a computer expert so here is the dxdiag results. I can only hope someone will see something I missed.

Isn't that onboard audio? Anyway that will cause issues. Also, your sound acceleration should be set at 3/4 not full. Directx, uses more processor resources at full acceleration.

do you have a custom sound pack installed? There seems to be one out there that has an issue. If you do have a custom sound pack, move the sounds folder, or rename it. Start the game and try it again. When you restart thre game it will use the original sounds. If it doesn't crash any more you know it was the sounds.

yes I do have a custom sound pack so I tried what you said. It didn't seem to make a difference. Also I stated above that the game crashes to desktop but there is also an error message that says aceshigh.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.

May be an art related CTD.

Have you changed your nose art recently?  Try uploading it again, or try getting rid of it and see if that fixes the issue.

cheers,

No nose art changes. Like I said before everything was working fine then I took a break for about 2 hours and when I came back I had this problem.
