Devil's Racetrack

...or more accurately, "Racetrack Playa" in the Death Valley National Park. Anyway... On Friday, some friends and I took the  3+ hour drive out to the lakebed to shoot some pictures. Beautiful scenery, but the road between Ubehebe Crater and the racetrack is 27 miles of the most mind numbing washboard I've ever traveled.

I have heard about those "moving" rocks.  Has the movement of them ever been explained?

Awesome pics too.

Thanks. :)

I think they've narrowed it down to a combination of wet/frozen lake bed and an enormous amount of wind.

Great pics Sandy. Moving rocks? C'mon guys, lay off the peyote.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

The rocks do move. Look it up, one of those weird phenomenon that hasn't been completely explained yet.
