The "dot" target

I think it would be helpful if the .target had a "life-size" outline of an average sized airplane in the bulls-eye.  Maybe not a silhouette, since it might be difficult to see bullet holes in it, but more of a "crime-scene outline" type thing.

Maybe even an outline of a bomber as well?

I know that when the target is used, hits in the "8" ring, etc, look pretty good, but in actuality they are pretty hefty misses.  Even hits in the "10" ring can be misses.

Having an outline of an airplane in the center would more graphically show the effects of convergence, etc, as well as explain reasons why "perfect" shots may not hit or not do much damage.

Keep in mind the very low hit % of most folks in the arenas, and it's easy to see that something geared to a better understanding of the guns would be helpful...

Another idea/option would be to put "tick-marks" at one or five (or whatever) foot intervals horizontally and vertically.

I'm just thinking something to show that a hit in the "8" ring is really 30-40 feet high, low, left or right...

I know nothing about the process required to set this up, but would think/hope it wouldn't be too terribly difficult.

Another cool feature (sorry, not trying to be a pain)  would be if the target tallied a "score" showing number (or%) of hits to the airplane outline.  Say you fired a hundred shots, and the target showed 7 hits...  A tool like this could show the importance of setting convergence and hitting at convergence.

I like the idea Mntman, maybe go as far as to select the type of shot.

a direct 6 shot,90 degree deflection, allow the player to select an A/C profile of their choice.
