Not much, thought it was a huge dissapointment hence I closed my account shortly afterwards and took a break for a few years.

Comparing video game versions?  Meh...

You can come up with something FAR more interesting IMO.

A comparison between air combat fighting styles for example...turn and burn, vs. boom and zoom and how those approaches were influenced by technological and tactical factors.

A comparison of strategic bombing techniques, ie, American day bombing vs. British night bombing.

A comparison of WWII fighter aces, and what factors contributed to each nations individual standard for becoming an "ace".

Your paper dude, but if I was your instructor, I'd be like.... "video game changes...blah!"

Less ye be writing for a computer class, or a business class.

Luck to ya either way.

Son, please, listen to the people here who are asking why you are comparing/contrasting changes' on an online video game. The only plausible way you could do this, without being totally ridiculed by your teacher, and your classmates, would be to show how a hobby/culture can develope in the modern age, And how a community can form. That is a long shot at best. You would need screenies' showing the talk on 'All' channel, then leading to the '200' we have today. At the most, concentrate on that, Your teacher might give you some kind of grade on comparing/ contrasting human behaviour over a decade's time, because you have plenty of adults' here playing, alongside younger kids. Expose the generation gap, that's your best shot, if you choose to go this route. My only other advice would be to get the **** away from the computer, go down to the library, and do something like Domestic manufacturing from 1970 to today.

now he just vulches. :D

there are no more classic fights out there. AHI is where it was all at. you didnt have the 20-30k  cherry pickers you didnt have the overly sized vulchers that we do now.

People offered to help other people unlike now a days. some folks are to good for that. some folks need to take a trip down memory lane to remind them how things use to be. this game is still fun for me but alot of its class has left .

-You could play 2 week trials over and over again....you just needed a new mail-adress every time :D
-Mountains lookes like pyramids, sometimes with a airfield on top
-You could de-ack airfields with a bomber in a single path.
-When smoke to destroyed hangars was added the first time, framerates would drop to single digits when a burning hangar came into view

Just a few memories...stopped playing it in ´99 and came back in 2007 after ww2online gameplay went down the drain

....but it was great fun none the less :D
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

If vulching was main part of my game my K/H would be higher and I wouldn't fly a yak as a sole ride every tour.

They are still out there, just harder to find with more people on and bigger maps. Off peek it's much easier as you have a regular bunch of above average players online flying between a few bases.

Just how far back down memory lane do you want to go? Yes prior to AW break up when there was only about 200 regular players at peek time everyone pretty much knew everyone else and the squads so it was a little more civil.  As the numbers grew it's expected that your going to lose that aspect of the game a little but I wouldn't say all the class has left. Still plenty out there, but again just harder to find amongst the increase in numbers.

There is still plenty of fun to be had on the edges, just as it was during the old days.

I didn't like it one damned bit, quite honestly. The .50 cal ballistics on my beloved FM2 were dumbed down, night went by the wayside, the new graphics engine forced a new computer purchase to keep up with the frame rate. Then HTC went and ENY'd the Thyphoon from 20 to 10 :t

It's still the best WW2 air combat sim (sri LTARS) out there but if AH1 & AH2 were available as simaltaneous options; I'd fly AH1

Kilz that is just NOT correct...

1. I got vulched PLENTY in AH1. The first time I heard the term Vulch was on the "all" channel in AH1.

2. There are planty of good dogfights in AH2. LW Blue A52/A53 last night was an epic furball. Sure you get Cherry pickers BnZing from 20K and you get HO'n newbs, but that is a function of having a larger community of players. There are calssic dogfights almost EVERY night!

hint: look for large equal sized DAR bars and go there!

3. I saw numerous offers to help puppet13 learn to level bomb last night on Bish country Channel... NOT an isolated instance.

4. There are MANY classy individuals in this game. For every zoozoo, skyrock or vanscrew thare are 10 AAOlds's, 68 falcon's, stodd's or dr7's (just to name a few).

I was there and one of the people begging for the ability to squelch channel 1.  I also remember the ooohs and aaahs when the first dev screen shots of AH2 came out, with the really cool runways and super-high texture detail on the P51.

I'll take AHII over AHI.  I never go near 200 and would like to squelch the country channel more often than not.  The dweebs and tards are just something more to shoot at and ensure the game stays in development.  I don't care if nobody bombs the hangers (or if someone does, for that matter), nor do I really care if nobody but is willing to defend some base.  Swams, hoards, HO tards, lGays, runstangs, cherry pickers, and squeakers are just part of the landcape and not worth getting wadded up about.

I just fly my F4U-1.  AH is my decompression time after life rather than vice versa.

I think a good topic would be the contrast between peoples memory of a game and the reality of what things were really like.
