Martin Luther King, where you been the last 25 years?!?!?!

I've been around. What has he done in the last 25 years? I thought he'd been dead for almost 40.

My kids went through countless "Black History" months. Reports, research, the whole dog and pony show.

They do know all about George Washington Carver, MLK (sort of), Jesse Owens, etc.

They have no idea what a Nubian is. Can't name the predominate African cultures or define historical African mores and customs.

What they really seem to be studying is "Exceptional People of Color in White America" Which I have no problem with to a degree. But the History of black people supposedly goes back to the very dawn of humanity. I think they'd get more out of the broader perspective.

But then they should also take Asian History, Native American History, Pacific Islander history....

Stop with the race baiting already:
My point was enough with the school holidays

Here in Mass, they get Flag Day or Bunker hill Day, that's right a day off to honor the battle of bunker hill, How come your unions have not gotten in on that action yet.
Plus a week off at Thanksgiving, Week off for Christmas, Week off for spring break, a few days of "professional Development"
and

How am I the one who is race baiting? The entire point of the thread was about Bessie Coleman ~ and how she's completely one of the under-recognized pioneers in Aviation ~ and somehow that got turned around into black bashing or black defending?

Racism is a two way street. Two of the most racist folks I know are both black. They are more racist than anyone of any color I have ever met.

Back to the Blacks that have done so much for America.... there are many... but the powers that be tend to dote on a few. I am a big fan of the Tuskeegee Airmen.... amazing what they accomplished. You might remember the men that laid the road to Alaska too.
Let's not forget the Red Ball Express...
