His flightpath covered a lot of rugged country. A small plane crashed on a mountain could be very hard to see, especially if there was no fire.

I read on wikipedia that during the search for him they found 8! previously uncharted crash sites. They must have searched alot of ground to find that and it makes you wonder just how many of these missing planes there are scattered around the US, and and the world for that matter.

Hopefully some of those 8 sites can be identified and some families get the final word on what happened to their lost relatives.
