I have an "old" Hi8 videocamera in a box somewere that i belive has s-video out and prolly component on it. I also have a MiniDV camera in the same box... again somewere :D

Is there any way that i can hook the camera(s) up to a tv set and see what the camera sees live on the tv set without recording and use that system to see whats going on in the driveway and garden via a small tv set in my office?

I have an old hi8 Sony that I can hook up to the TV with the RCA plugs (yellow, red and white) and turn it on like I'm going to record.  You don't need to hit record to see what the camera sees and it shows up on the TV.

At least it works on mine, not sure about other models.

hehehe

all fun aside...

I plan on setting it up for the driveway now and in the summer its going to see from the house and down on the lawn to the pier were the boat is. Mia is prolly gonna run around semi-supervised this summer so an extra set of eyes on her while im working in my home office will be good :)

I was thinking about a networked webcam but this setup has a better long range lens and and far better quality without having to spend a dime and involve computers at all.

low tech, but a far better result.
