I think he's talking about the second part of my suggestion,

Another idea would to be allow each of the destroyers to be "captained" like the CV group.

That is probably difficult.  but as you said, Having a destroyer that you could spawn would be similar to the PT boat, just larger and a little slower...

How could each destroyer be captained? Maybe if they put that in game, there would be a limit on how far each destroyer could go, say it could detach from the CV group but not go more than 2-3 miles away from it...so noobs wouldn't drive it thinking their ship pwned all...

that did come to mind when I thought about that, so probably utimately that may not be a good idea, or may not even be workable..   then you end up with all the destroyers all over the place

HiTech's response was that the fleet is basically a moving airfield object, hence the inability to steer it on a deeper level than fleet-wide waypoints. What he was in favor of was a randomization of some sort to make evasive turns less predictable.

What value? Sitting waiting in a sub for a TF to pass by? Could be a very long wait. And with the current ocean graphics would make for a very ugly sub environment to operate in.

The AH Sub thread has been beaten to death in the past like B29 and nukes, time to move on.

But at least HT has expressed a desire to add a submarine element to the game. He has maintained a solid position that the B29 will not be added.

There was also a mention of sub-pens in the combat tour forums.
Plus animated water was disabled quite a while ago, so maybe they're working on a revamped and prettier version?

Either way,  i have a feeling that this next update, or version, is gonna bring alot more to the table than what's on the home page.

I think the answer to the fleet problem is zigzag. Should be an option on the task group window to turn off or on zigzag.  Ideally we'd also have a # % deflection from base course. 10 degrees for a little random course. 30 degrees for high risk areas.  Then simply draw your waypoint, but the task group does a certain amount of zigzag as its traveling.

Good idea.   Maybe just a simple "Evasive Action" button, from the cv menu, with a corresponding sound on the flight deck to give anyone trying to take off a warning.

A few years back I recall Hitech responding favorably, though with no committal, about the possibility of submarines. Now there's a few bottles of Single Malt waiting in the wings. :aok

Subs is prolly the only thing i dont want in the game apart from a noook, but destroyers would be fun and useful.

Adding subs would prolly require redoing the entire game code if its not to be too arcade but destroyers that are separate from the cv group but outherwise would work in the same way should be fairly easy.
