if i could put the AH2 FM in IL2graphics engine i would never leave the house..

even if your the strictest tactician, purist who sees this game more as a chess match than a flight sim.  you still get a tickle watching the enemy go down in flames..

its almost like some people think its not "cool" (  ) to admit they like a little eye candy.

admit it or not, graphics are important.

If you saw a screenshot from AH with smooth rolling hills, a better sun, a horizon that.. is a horizon :huh  and even some MINOR upgrades to the textures used for the ground pattens..  at first I bet you wouldent recognize the game.

When I'm in a rolling dogfight I couldn't care less about ground detail. If I had time to just fly around and look at the scenery I suppose I'd just be pathetic. Yeah, a certain level of detail beyond mere polygons is needed but to have this huge graphics engine that needs a zillion gigazapers to run is silly when I suspect a good portion of our players are still on dialup.

Give us game play and some variety. And yes, I'm sure there are other games much more graphically advanced than this. You are more than welcome to engage in one of those. I've played games that were graphically very nice but played like crap.

considering your score I would guess You hate the terrain so much because you see so much of it under poor circumstances.

don't hate the terrain, it didnt kill you.. well.. I guess in a way it did.. but.. I mean..  it didnt do it on purpose.

Eye candy is ok, but I have no problem dumping the candy to keep playability. For me its all in the fight, and that what I'm after, so ya give us more planes, and GVs to keep that crowd happy, but eye candy is pretty low on the list.

You got to remember, all of us "old guys" come from Green=land, Dark Blue= water, and Light Blue= sky, thats pretty much all we had and we were happy with it.

My mommy and daddy won't buy me a new computer to run all these fancy eye candy upgrades ( they are both retired and on a fixed income), and I can't afford it because I'm too busy spoiling the crap out of my kids.

Barrage Ballons over cities/factories.   me110 city flattening hoardes would have to first remove balloons before taking out ack.....resulting in more time for ack to thin the crowd out making city capture more difficult

pleasing graphics and good playability are not mutually exclusive

You got to remember, "old guys" wont keep this game running forever, and any prospective new players may be turned away before even giving it half a chance, seeing antiquated graphics and moving without a second thought.  antiquated graphics being par 10 years ago is hardly an excuse for them to remain. (referring to the angular terrain, not the textures)

I suppose you might be right. If I'd spent 70 hours looking at it I might come to hate it too. :p
