GV Main GUN load times
« on: March 01, 2008, 11:09:13 AM »
I wish that they would model the loading times for the tanks correctly. In the current aces high game the tiger loads in about 10 to 11 seconds, which is not the correct load time. The correct load time is 20 seconds for a tiger, 15 seconds for a panzer and 15 seconds for a T-34.I have gathered this information from a fellow tanker who compiled real time data for another tank game we play.I always see people on this BB trying to make corrections to the plane set so why not the tanks as well?

This is the link to the data site.

Russian tankers generally had very minimal training.   They were often poorly educated, even illiterate, and often slow and clumsy.

Germany put their best tank crews in the Tigers, which helped to compensate for its theoretical slowness, as the crew itself was very efficient.

The current load times are thus really a more accurate real world approximation of what actually took place during the war.

The T-34/76 only had 6 ready rounds.  After that the loader has to get ammo from under the floor planking.  Also, the floor on the T-34/76 did not rotate with the turret, forcing the crew to manually move with it.

The T-34/85 addressed both of these shortcomings.

those times i have posted are  as dude typed " real world " load times taken from data during and after the war.The load times is just the tip of the ice burg though that is wrong with the gv's in aces high.

Besides the load times they have to change the laser tag effect that the gv guns have, i mean all you see is a beam of light and some dirt kick up.

Why would it take so long to load the 88?  I have seen video of the 88 in anti aircraft and anti tank...  they took maybe 6 seconds...  Mechanically I doubt it took more than 4 seconds to reload the gun.. the rest is crew training and over time, ammo availability.  You can bet the loader is reaching for the next round as soon as the current is sent home in combat.

The site you linked too is useless from a research or verification standpoint.

I can see flaws in it and I am only casually knowledgable about tanks.  It lists the same reload times for the T-34/76 and T-34/85 when there were major changes between the two to address the T-34/76's massive failings on that count.

I am not saying AH has it right in all cases, but your link is not evidence of that as it has it very wrong in at least one case.

All these tanks were manually loaded right? So with the human factor there was probably 3 speeds. 1, Sorta fast "nobody shooting at you". 2, Fast, "someone shooting at you but from far away", and 3, Really fast, "as in get another round in or were dead".

The longest load time in the games tanks is in the T-34 aint it?
