The PBY's just a really cool plane.  Enough said  :D

As someone posted HERE , there are some (future) purposes for it.

Also, posting for a new idea just keeps it on people's minds.  Why not?

Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?
Apparently I'm in the 20th FG 'Loco Busters', or so the legend goes.

I'm sorry Denholm. Forgive me for looking the forum name and thinking this would be the place to lobby for additions to the game.

What was I thinking?

I did'nt know this forum had special rules and mp's.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

Why? Most huckleberries use the CV as an LST already!

But the PBY was a reconnaissance/patrol aircraft.

This game isn't expansive enough to require recons.  One lanc with a full tank of fuel will give you an "eye in the sky" for 2 hours

Heard about some people wanting a new naval formation. How about this, a bombardment group. Not able to launch lvts or planes but would be able to level any base, port or town real quick. Formation centered on a battleship like a North Carolina class and 2 heavy cruisers, Baltimore class ringed by 6 Fletcher class destroyers(mostly for AA).
Also the destroyers currently in the game, what are they modeled after? Most WW2 destroyers had a torpedo mount on them. Would be interesting to be in a CV group on CV group battle with torps running all over the place.

ridley, point taken, but a lancaster just isn't a PBY Catalina :)

the PBY is just too cool!!  :D :D

But seriously, I think it would be an excellent addition with the recon package that I posted a link to in my previous post in this thread.

What would you use a PBY for....other then target practice?

They actually could carry 2 torpedoes on their wings (from what I've heard)

If there's an arguement for a PBY, I'd rather see a Short Sunderland.

4 engined flying boat.  Coastal Command patrol aircraft...enough defensive armament to get it the nickname "flying porcupine"

No offense here Denholm or anyone who suggests this, why don't you use the search feature and post the link(s), if you are familiar with them, and that will settle the issue. Help a brotha or sista out!  :)
