1941 pre-Pearl P-40b skin?
« on: February 27, 2008, 12:25:45 AM »
I'm wondering if pre-war skins on the P-40B are allowed? I don't mean AVG in China, I mean pursuit squadron skins from before the US entered the war officially.

Just curious. I might have a skin in mind...

Plenty of Pearl Harbor era birds from both the Phillipines and Pearl that would seem to fit that are in essence pre-war schemes that became wartime in a hurry

What one you referring to?

Sorry, I forgot abuot this. I have a profile in a book I was going to scan -- but the precious time I had was spent in-game.

Anyways, it was some pursuit squadron, but I don't remember which. Now that I think about it, it won't work because the big "ARMY" text under the wings will mirror in a very ugly way due to having only 1 wing underside.

HTC will accept a skin with out the army underneath because of the mirroring problem

It's 36th squadron, 8th Pursuit Group. Green uppers, Grey unders, red/white/blue on tail, plus some sort of personal/unit art on the tail behind the cockpit. From 1941 (which means before Pearl). No idea if it saw any combat, which is the crux of the matter.

Generally we don't get training skins or prototype skins etc. I believe a skin has to see some action, some combat. This is also why we don't get unarmed recon skins.

So, if this plane is before Pearl, it didn't see action, so would the skin be possible? I don't mean trying to sneak it past HTC by not mentioning this fact, but with all facts on the table, would it be accepted?

The 8th FG went into combat with 39s in all three squadrons so it wouldn't have been a combat bird.  36th later had 40Ns
