AHF films
« on: February 23, 2008, 11:37:48 AM »
OK, I'm sure I'll be getting some flak for this, but...I'd like to see more AHF films rather than all the .WMV, DivX, .MPG, .AVI, etc. films.

The reason is: I'm new to AH2, and I use the AHF films for learning about various tactics, use of views, radio calls, etc. When I watch a AHF film, I'll probably watch it several times, from both internal and external views, both "using recorded views" and not, sometimes with the trails on...in other words, it's like a football player watching game films; I want to see what mistakes are made, and find out  what I can learn from them.

I can understand why lots of people like the "other" kind of AH entertainment films, since AH lends itself to this so well. I'm not trying to say that I don't enjoy those films...I do, but I can't learn from them.

So, all you AH filmmakers, don't forget those of us who actually want to see the "raw footage" of some great furball, or some terrific counter to an overshoot...

Trying to find those AHF films is very difficult...maybe people posting could put "AHF" in their thread title...oops, no, there's that d@mn "more than 3 character" crippled feature on the BBS "search" function again...never mind.

Problem is...you can't do a search on "ahf"...not enough characters for the crippled search function to work.

http://trainers.hitechcreations.com/films/main.htm

The training page has a limited selection of some ACM.  These are .ahf films.

Otherwise, the http://trainers.hitechcreations.com/ is a wealth of some basic flight information.

Thanks, Fulmar, but I already know basic flight maneuvers (licensed pilot with some RL ACM training), and if I need to know the principles, I'll pull out my copy of Shaw's "Fighter Combat, Tactics and Maneuvering"...I just want to see actual AH fights. But I guess I'll quit beating this dead horse and try to find what .ahf films I can in the Training forum. :)

I agree with what you are asking for, plus it would be fun if I was bored and just wanted to feed the addiction.:aok

I think there should be a thread, if not a sticky, where people or the trainers can post films (with a brief description) of fights showing elements of the fight that can help people learn.  For example, flims showing reverses, wingman tactics, divebombing runs, E management, etc.

Just a thought, but have you asked some of the pros in the game if they have any to mail you?  I know lots of them that record frequently.  Im sure some of them would be willing to email you some of their favorite films.
Fear? You bet your life...but that all leaves you as you reach combat. Then there's a sense of great excitement, a thrill you can't duplicate anywhere...it's actually fun. Yes, I think it is the most exciting fun in the world. — Lt. Col. Robert B. "Westy" Westbrook, USAAF 6/<--lol@mod
