model planes.

I am interested in buying a few model planes. I was wondering since i seen you guys have built them, you could recommend a website. Right now is interested in getting a P39 model and a P51.

This is a great resource for plastic models as well as tools, paints, you name it. It's part of Tower Hobbies. Also Tower Hobbies has a great lineup of R/C aircraft as well.

^-- use these and other pages to maybe get a review of a kit you want to build. Or to see other built kits for inspiration.

www.cybermodeler.com <-- great for kit reviews. They do a very nice job reviewing new kits.


That said, have you done any models before? Do you have any of the tools/paints etc? It can be a little pricey, especially considering some of the extortion... er... "prices" on kits these days. Start small, start simple. Don't put money into your first kit that you'll regret later.

Just charge in, if you like, and have fun with whatever kit you get. Don't feel you have to do what other folks have done (superdetailing, etc), just follow your own comforts.

go find a hobbytown USA, and you can get really good Hasegawa models there

overall, if your new, go with hobbyboss do the 1:72 scales, and after some experience (2-3 planes) go for hasegawa or revell 1:48

Are you asking where to buy the kits, or do you want info on building them? PM me if you want tips....I have built plenty of them and they turned out pretty good, imo.

Tamiya and Hasegawa are the best ones. I like Tamiya kits better, but Hasegawa is almost as good and they have many more kits.

If you are just starting out, I'd suggest doing 1/72 scale models. They are less expensive and less complicated. When you feel comfortable, the 1/48 scale is the place to go.

Anyway, good luck to you. It's a rewarding hoby.
