FA Cup
« on: March 10, 2008, 09:26:48 AM »
For all of those football fans out there.  The World's longest running cup competition is down to the last four.

For the first time in 13 years no club from the "big four" have reached the semi final stage.  If Pompey win it will be their first time since 1939, cardiff 1927, Barnsley 1912.

The draw went like this

Barnsley vs Cardiff
West Bromwich Albion vs PORTSMOUTH.

I shall be off to the new Wembley for the first time and hopefully there aren't any more major upsets as Portsmouth are now red hot favourites to win it.

Play up Pompey!

Pompey narrowly beat argyle in a game we dominated to get into the last 16.  We wuz robbed! :cry  Not that i'm bitter or anything.  :D We also hammered barnsley 3-0 in the match before they beat liverpool.  I didn't see that win coming at all, then they go and beat chelsea too.:)

The same happened last year against watford, they were absolutely shocking, but got a lucky goal.  I wasn't surprised at all when they were relegated.

Don't underestimate West brom, they play the most attractive football in the championship by a fair margin.  I'm very confident they'll win the championship despite currently only 4th.  Best of luck though bruv.  If there is any justice in the world barnsley will win the FA cup, they throroughly deserve to.

All i'm hoping for this year is for plymouth to get to the play offs, we've not been lower than mid table all season.  I wouldn't be too upset if leicester were to be relegated, but i'll be over the moon when Holloway is fired at the end of the season.

I remember the plymouth game and you gave a good account of yourselves.

The main advantage I can see for us is that unlike Man U and Chelsea this is still a big thing for us to win it.  We have the experienced players who want to win just as much as the championship clubs.  We can play Physical, probably have one of the best defences in the country and can play attacking football when it suits.   Just a big shame Defoe is cup tied.

I hope Barnsley get to the final as knocking out both Chelsea and liverpool they deserve it.

We've had the luck when we have needed it so I hope this turns out to be our year.  Just think Hitler was still in power the last time we won it!

Southampton are also lingering very near the drop zone and I would hate to see them drop again  :lol

After growing up in the Barnsley area i cant wait to watch the final.

It gives you some sense of feeling that spending 60 million on one player and giving 60,000 a week isnt worth it.

For example Ronaldo playing for Man U, every time he got the ball hed try to take everyone on, then loose the ball. If football hadnt turned into such a sissy game then the other players would have made sure he wouldnt do it again.

Good luck to all the teams and for once im going to watch the FA cup in 15 years

the semi's are gonna be a good watch as well

this weekend showed that it's more about the clubs that want to win it
than those with the biggest cheque book

Now IF Capello can get England to play with a fraction of the passion shown by Cardiff, Barnsley WBA & Portsmouth,
the World Cup will be a doddle! :rock

wtg to all the teams

swoopy you may find it of interest to know plymouth argyle's whole wage bill is under 70k/week. :lol  I bought myself FM2008 last week as a treat for handing in the first draft of my dissertation. As plymouth i only had 600k to spend on transfers over the summer!  In real life the most argyle has ever spent on a single player is 400k for a hungarian winger called Halmosi- who is indeed awesome, he  ought to be in the premiership (and probably will be if argyle get promoted or not).
