I flew for about 4 hours last night and there was pretty much nothing but fighting. Very little smack talk and what there was, was good natured and not serious. I won some, I lost some, I had fun.

One thing ive noticed, which really impressed me, was how much better ive gotten.  I consider myself a decent stick.  But flying against these Axis guys is tough, no question about it.  Went into the MA last night.  Upped Navy planes off a carrier with my squadmate OOZ662.  I had 15 kills and only died once, had a couple ditches but they were from taking off in a Corsair while it was turning, and the captures i got are from HOs who took out my engine and i tried to ditch it.  So either ive gotten better or the MA guys just plain suck now, or both!!

Joe, you are not the first to notice that. I have always said the AvA will make you better air to air. The MA still has the upper 10% of players, and the AvA has almost none of the bottom 20%. That does not make AvA players uber sticks but it means you are less likely to find as many of the easy kills or the uber sticks, and more likely to find the majority on both sides are above the MA average, not a lot, but enough notice. Add that to the fact that some of the Axis players know their rides inside and out, and you will learn to fly better or you will die...a lot.

Storch, Tbarone, and TK have always said that the AVA will make you a better pilot then the MA. Going up against guys that are better then you will always make you better. i learn something new every time i fly with these guys. In the DA i feel like a rag doll that gets beat up and smack down all the time. but each and every time they tell me why i died and that makes the difference. they are great teachers and should be used whenever possible. all you gotta do is ask

What you do is get two people to go to the DA with you. All three get in the same plane and have them gang you over and over. It builds up your SA and you get better alot faster.

Might I suggest you start 1v1 with new pilots in traditional match-ups in the AvA enviroment while upping from the same side in the DA, film and describe your maneuvers during the engagement then work your way to advanced scenarios. Hit your foe light - you're instructing not scorewhoring and the more you can pack into the actual engagement, itself, and not waiting for another takeoff the more valuable the time. Switch out fuel loads and ord loads to simulate interception, evasion and/or redirection. But you knew all that and thought it wasn't worth mentioning, I'm thinking.
