Disco
« on: March 11, 2008, 10:07:03 PM »
I have dial up for my internet connection.  Normally I do not have many problems with discos but tonight upped three times and had 3 discos.  After third one decided to call it a night.  I fly about every night and have not changed anything.  Any suggestions why this might have happened tonight on Titanic Tuesday or whatever it is called?  My inflight name is 4Fox if this helps for anything.

I might add that I am not sure if my modem is configured in the best way.  I have read the sticky regarding internet connection.  Any suggestions on the correct settings (hardware control, etc) would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Not to be rude, but u have dial up, and that is ur problem.  Its just too slow.
If i said anything to offend u, plz ignore it.

also, if i say anything stupid or rude, it was probobly too late at night and i was half asleep, so ignore that too.

oh yeah, its all just my opinion, so if ya dont care, just keep it to urself, cuz if u dont care, i sure wont!

Not true. There are many, many people playing on dial up. And if I'm not mistaken, the game server itself is throttled to 250k so those with super fast connections are not getting their data any faster than most other players.
Most of the people you meet in life are like slinkies. Pretty much useless, but still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

Dialup is fine, assuming your latency is less than 250ms or so. There was something going on last night- I got discoed twice, kept losing UDP. Ran pingplotter, and there was something up with Savvis in chicago (no surprise there). I wonder if that might have also affected Fox.

Aces High II is designed to work over a dialup connection.

The Internet has been acting a bit odd the last few days.  I can only guess it is weather related.

I got a note monday from my cable provider that there were high levels of sun flares or some such and that reception and outages might occure. Might do a google search and see what comes up on that. I've noticed some of my searches or playing while during the day seem wacky.

Guess whatever happened Tuesday night was an isolated event because I flew last night without any problems.  Life is good, again.
