I have no fear of rejection, but maybe those who are absent do!  That is why I said it!

That said, we all have emotional issues...we play a game that breeds them! :rofl

People against something will always be louder then those for the same thing.

Me thinks that the lurkers alone who aren't posting but a once in awhile approval speaks louder then the lack of "NO" fanatics. IF this was a super bad idea, this thread would be beat to death.

How can you possibly have a complaint about a button you don't need to press? I can't even invent one.

Lets see what the seed grows into, which I think HT's point is. If it were a bad idea we'd had our "will never happen" already

Not that I play anymore (sorry, two children under the age of two means daddy doesn't play anything without a 'pause' key) but here's a radical idea:

People's choice arena.

Every so often a poll goes up in the arena and folks respond with what arena type they want

Poll can go up either via UI pop-up or radio announce message ("Voting is open for the next 5 minutes, for night arena send "Vote 1" , for storm arena send "Vote 2")

Once polls close, arena switches to that "mode" for the next hour or so.
If you want the changes to happen more fluidly, set it up so that there's a "change / keep" vote first, but that happens more often (and silence = keep)

Choices for everything up to (but not including) plane sets could be set up.  I say plane sets, just because folks may not relinquish their uber planes after the polls close :t

I should mention the two stage voting (change / keep) followed by "which setup" has been working great on counterstrike servers and the like for many years now.

I'd like day/night cycles. It would add immersion to the game, that is, if immersion is the right word. Weather would be cool too, but I'd settle for fog, and wind.

HAR Lemur,
Good take on this idea. I don't know that the "switch" can be made that rapidly, might be a Tour specific poll or "weekly" thing. It would also support or not support an idea or vision that might be perceived as "fading fast" or the best thing since....er "sliced bread"!  May be the kind of feedback needed to grow as a "community".

In my Night Arena idea, I had mentioned a poll before even administering it.
While HT squashed that Night Server idea, and I realize "Night Only" would not fulfill the "need" for a new arena. This concept and subsequent proposals do have merit, IMHO, and may be worthy of investigation, polls, and implementation possibilities.

"Depends"

Well obviously we know what he's all about. May not know personally, but I've seen it a million times, nothing new. No substance, no reason why, nothing shocking here, ignore the nonsense.

How dare us try to put a different face on it beside the same ol pleasing the aohell chat room types.

I look at it this way...
Anyone can win a half a game when it's stripped down from a whole sim. If you really need to strip half the sim down to be able to "win" over someone better then you, then you probably feel the same about beating a one armed man with a broken leg. "No" People usually carry fear challenge in their back pockets. The "game" is not so easy when you have realistic variables huh? Turn it up to 11 and hand them a kleenex.

<shrug> whata ya gonna do?

Keep pushing, ignore the scared ones, they'll get ya killed.

Interesting new thing with these new Boards. This thread has been viewed/touched 354 times as of this post. Talk about a "silent" minority. "What were they thinking" ....  comes to mind. I think a Poll for these ideas might be better than any response or lack of one here. Maybe I am wrong, too. I know only 1% or 2% of people actually respond to some polls, maybe it's the same in AH. Seems that there are the ("we")few fanatics contributing here on both sides of an issue, while everyone else is basically indifferent. Interesting to know it got that many folks' attention. (certainly my 5-10 views included) Can we, really, measure an idea now based on these "facts"? I don't read a thread unless it catches my attention in the subject line. Is that the same for others? I think so.

Still, the silence does make me wonder. <shrugs>
