Sounds
« on: March 11, 2008, 08:56:31 PM »
I would like to have both external engine sounds and internal engine sounds.  WHat I mean is when u in your plane, your engine sounds different then if u outside.  What I am asking is to have both sounds in game.  Your engine sounds like u actually in cockpit while the planes around u use a external sound.  This type of sound setup is what is used in MS FSX.  They use a internal sound when u in the plane u flying and a external engine sound for the other planes around u.  For ex. your internal engine sound file name would be something like this:  ieng.wav.  Your external engine sound file would look like this: xeng.wav.

Reason I asking for something like this is, Sketch and I currently working on engine sounds for the planes.  We got live recordins from the planes for both incockpit and outside.  Obviously they sound totally different.  Using the current sound setup, if use actual cockpit sounds, the planes around sound the same.  Muffled kinda like if u know what I mean.  Tuff to explain.

AKDogg sir I think you will find with the right sound pack that it is there.

Quite a few of us 332nd FM have been useing TicToks sound pack.

Just sitting on the runway in the TA is an enjoyable experience.
You can tell which plane is which just by the sound.

I got all the sounds and tried them all.  I compared them to actual in cockpit sounds and they nothing what they actually sound like in the cockpit.  Problem is when u use that type of sound, all the planes use the internal cockpit sound.  I have a p38 recording and it sounds nothing like the sounds packs.  U can't hear the supercharger at all.

I definitely would enjoy an internal and external sound file.

My packs have had internal and external sounds for months now, and I've been asking the guys for the ability to have internal/external sounds in the game for ages. Yes, I also got the idea from MFS.

Dogg I know exactly what you mean.  I am working on a new version of my sound pack that tries to hit a happy medium.  The sounds are more of a in-cockpit sound but still sound plane specific enough to distinguish a spit from a 109 external.

It would also be great to have a sound for when engine is at idle on runway.  U have backfire from engine and such.  FSX uses stereo sounds for inside cockpit and mono for external sounds (For 3d directional sound).  HTC, I think could be really simple to implement.  U yourself do not have to incorporate more sounds into the DL of the game.  Do what u have now with the default sounds.  The game uses the default sounds when now custom sound file is found.  So for instance, if no xeng.wav (external sound) is not present, use default.  Same with idle.  If no idleeng.wav no present, use default sound that we alrdy have (eng.wav).

Here is an example of a Me109G2 engine.  The difference between outside and in cockpit.  Actually it a matter of the canopy being open then closing but same difference.

Warning, it about 9 megs.

You can't really address this issue because it is not available in-game yet.  We don't have separate sounds for external yet... just slider to adjust them.

I'd love it! I play FSX and I think the dual-sounds would be very cool in AH.
