New Whirblewind = Awesome

Gave the new anti aircraft weapon a try last night and was pretty impressed.

The 20 mm cannons are far superior to the light guns on the m-16, and the whirble seems to be slightly more difficult for aircraft to turret than the Osti (maybe turret is a little more compact)
As far as range goes I was surprised that I could damage planes out to 1 k, but I was really impressed in taking the WW up against another WW in ground combat.  The quad mount turreted, tracked and blew up the enemy WW from 200 yards out in a 7 second burst of fire. 

This machine should help make defending a base or convoy of tanks a little more practical.

Perking it would be a horrible idea. It's as soft as a flak with less long range capability and slower than an m16.  If people have a problem with it, kill VH's and drop the gv's out before taking a base or having a vulchfest, which is the way it should be anyways.  And like moot said, take down the VH hangers before grabbing it. The only people it affects are the lone superhero landgrabbers who roll fields when the pop is low or on big maps with a sneak, and even then it's not going to affect them much.

No, you should just strafe flaks with 303's then drop troops from 10K high like regular vbase attackers

A severe over-reaction.  A perk is not needed.  It is as easy to kill as an Ostie.  I would not try it without the help of a wingman though!  There is just a lot of folks trying the toys out, and you will see the ranks of Wirbelwinds thinned out a bit as time goes by.  Most folks have gotten used to being able to swoop on an airfield at super-low altitude, and this will not occur anymore as long as the VH stands. Good addition HTC.

Today I took out 2 panzers with the Whirblewind. sitting right behind them when they spawn up at the VH hanger and I blasted away.

Not if they never moved out of the VH. Even then, if they end on their own base I don't believe it gives you a kill. But yeah, I'd like to see film on 20mm's killing a panzer.

I'm not sure, but I think I got something like that once.  Got a crash for a landing on concrete with broken parts.
Maybe point blank shots with a WW's 20mm are enough to penetrate..  So far the only good tactic I've found against tanks is setting up an ambush and leaving them behind asap with a broken track.
