I work Friday eves so no chance to fly it. Kermit pointed out to me that the FSO was about the Aluetians which is one of my history interests due to the 54th FS that flew 38Es and Gs up there in the worst weather possible.
There is a great book, with tons of photos and information on that air war in the Aluetians called:
"The Aluetian Warriors-A history of the 11th Air Force and Fleet Air Wing 4" by John Haile Cloe.
It covers both sides well too and from beginning of the campaign to the end. Amazing photos from both sides. Weather obviously a key factor. There is one photo showing a Wildcat that was driven into the ground by a down draft in a valley. 2 of 4 F4Fs downed by wind as they were trying to attack ground targets. The other two driven upwards by the same wind.
Anyway, if you want to learn more about what you are flying, it's a great read and can be found fairly cheap used.
