I Quit
« on: March 14, 2008, 10:39:38 AM »
Smoking just over a year ago.  :aok     What did you think I was going to say? :D

After twenty-nine years of smoking a pack a day and numerous attempts to quit I have finaly succeded, at least so far.
I still on occasion crave a cigarette, and these cravings can be very strong. I really thought after a year these cravings would be completely gone. :O

Now I have to deal with the fifty pounds I gained since I quit smoking. That is the only downside to quitting for me. :uhoh

Unfortunately, you have traded one risk factor for another.   For heart disease kills far more people than lung cancer every year.  Good luck on getting your weight under control too.

Although smokers do also risk emphysema, which is a really awful way to die.  So hopefully you will now avoid the possibility of getting it.  My Dad's stepfather died of emphysema, and it was a terrible way to watch someone die.   I was only a kid at the time, and the experience traumatized me from ever touching a cigarette.
