Did you get your PPL/CPL before or after your A-P? Just something I'm curious about when I see people with both.

I have A&P, Inpection Authorization along with PPL.  Which one came first?   I took my PPL check ride in the morning, then went accross the field and took my O&P for my airframe.  Got both PPL and A on same day.  Three quarters later I got my P.  I guess you could say I got my PPL before my A&P (barely).

Neat! Never heard of someone knocking them out at the same time. Also, didnt mean to be potentially insulting in leaving off the IA. Was just for brevity's sake. :D

Think I was up through commerical and CFI-G  before the mechanic ratings then the powered CFI ratings then IA.  Are you going into aviation?

I already have my A-P, by going the 147-school route. No PPL though, as mentioned earlier. I just tend to be curious of those with both pilot's and technician's tickets, in particular the why's of it. But, I dont want to derail this thread too much  :D

Here in PA, there is a restraunt that has a landing strip and planes park out side next to the restraunt, lol.  BTW, thats in Reading, PA and I sure Murdr knows what field I talking about, hehehe.

Anyone who did any of their cross country time in Southern Illinois in the late 80's early 90's probably knows of a tiny little airport where  the Ground Service employed pretty young women outfitted in short shorts who would meet you on the tarmac and serve you milk and cookies while they topped off your tanks....

Don't know if they are still there, might have to fly down there to find out sometime this spring...  Good times...

Student pilot ..way out of current.

Best times: The hour over Florida in Crazy Horse with Lee Lauderback talking me thru the stuff I do in the Arena :)
His pre-brief question: 'how many hours have you had' ..answer: 'simulated? or actual?' ..ROFL.
His de-brief: 'You wear the airplane and did better than people I have seen with thousands of hours, you could solo in it right now'
He still doesn't beleive I only had 18 hours total, counting that one :)

The hour over the fields north of Madera after the warbird show in a PT-17 Stearman buzzing radio towers, I had 3 hours total ..then :)
You know the flying wires actually do humm and you can gauge flare speed by the tone change ..that was *cool* to learn.

The hour in my first 'stick' airplane, an Aeronca Champ ..and being left behind by a hawk (the actual bird) as he looked over his shoulder at me, and dove away.. ROFL!

I still only have 18 hours dual .. it was some of the most fun I have had on the planet with a machine.

Got my Private Pilot certificate in 1973 while attending Spartan School of Aero. Along with my A&P certificate.  I rented the Cessna 150 Aerobat for $10.00 per hr. and $15.00 per hour with the instructor.....oh that was the wet price (including fuel)  man those were the days lol   :aok

The hour over Florida in Crazy Horse with Lee Lauderback

Nothing quite like being pointed straight down and having Lee say "You have the airplane."  :D

Fate whispers to the warrior "You cannot withstand the storm" and the warrior whispers back "I AM THE STORM"

KTM520guy: Was just speaking with Jim today. I hope to get back in the air in about 3 weeks.

Also has anyone seen Master Blasters? It is filmed at 52F mine and KTM520guy Airport.
I was shocked to suddenly recognize the hangars.

HiTech

Hey Dale, I was asked to be in that show, passed because I was in Reno at the time and had no vacation. My rocketry club did do it.

Stop by, I'm behind the Cafe/Master Blaster Hangar, would like to grill you brats and shoot the chit, just for the AI alone.

I have good scotch and cigars.

I have ya covered.
