What vodka out there is available in California and Better than Greygoose?

I've tried others that are cheaper and they are not as good as GG.

Greygoose orange flavor with Cranberry Juice is GREAT!  I think Strawberry-cranberry juice and GG's Orange flavor is awesome!

But a nice Seven and Seven is always better :)

The one that was the basis for the thread, Kermit. It's available everywhere, and in my opinion, superior to the Goose. It really is a waste to mix it with anything, and I've never done so myself, but the reviews say it's a good mixer too. It's just a touch more expensive than Grey Goose, so if that's what you're accustomed to, I highly suggest you go out and try it.

My favorite vodka by far is Ciroc...it is made from grapes in france. It goes down very smooth to smooth in fact because the next thing you know your licking it of the table because you spilled a little (not me my friend) . Give it a try its about the same price wise as GreyGoose but way better..

White zubrowka?! Well, it's a Polish vodka, so they probably know better. Here it's usually light-brown because of the herbs.

Does anyone like pepper vodka? Like Nemiroff Honey-Pepper, I know it's exported from Ukraine and can be found easily in the West.

IMHO only vodka made in Poland, Russia and Ukraine is worth drinking, everything else doesn't have vodka taste and is good only for mixing, but mixing vodka is a perversion.

As Neubob said - any "fruit-flavored" vodka is a fake, except maybe some lemon vodka made here in Russia. When I saw "strawberry" or "raspberry" Stolichnaya in the US I was really surprised: it wasn't made in Russia, the label lies.

Stolichnaya is a well-known brand, and it sometimes fools Western people here: I saw Finns buying Stoly that was obviously fake, while not even looking at excellent Sinopskaya or Mendeleev made by LIVIZ, SPb.

Holy Crap Batman!!!! I finaly found a subject that I agree with Boroda on 100% :rofl   I was over in Odessa Ukraine during the summer of 2001 and had some of the best vodka I have ever tasted anywhere. I don't remember the brand but the Electronics Officer onboard one of the Ukrainian Frigates had us drinking a pepper vodka that was amazing. I also got to try some of the lemon vodka from Russia and that was real good. I ended up bring home a case of the local stuff, but it's all gone now :( Need to get back over there some day. Between the vodka and all the six foot tall blonde women wearing see through summer dresses with nothing but a thong on, Odessa was a great port of call.

I'll agree with Boroda. I don't remember what brand the vodka was (something and a Lux) I brought from Moscow, but it was smooth and suitable to drink on it's own or on the rocks or with a blender. White label with a Russian word on it. :) I liked it a lot better than for example Finlandia vodka.  :aok

Why do you know what Britney Spears' favorite drink is?

Because I googled the word Vodka, and got a link to the info.

Do you not know that Britney Spears is the all time #1 person to be looked up on Google???

So much has been published about her online, that it is sometimes difficult for Google to not come up with a link related to her in some way.

Zyr Vodka

I'll be trying this vodka out as soon as I can get my hands on it.  So far I can't find someone who carries it.  I'll find it locally soon.

We filter rotgut vodka through a Britta a bunch of times, the stuff we get after it's all done does really well in our blind taste tests.  It's a cheap experiment, and you might like the results.

I don't doubt that for a bit chairboy. With wine, 2 buck chuck usually wins blind taste tests even among wine snobs. Just don't let them see the bottle.

Another two great vodkas out there are Belvedere and Wyborowa.  Both are Polish.  The Belvedere is pretty common now with the "martini" crowd.  Wyborowa is a little more difficult to find but well worth it!

And I definately have to agree with Boroda.  Leave the fruit in the fruit basket!  Although I'd be willing to try the pepper vodka.

Most popular pepper vodka is from Nemiroff: http://nemiroff.ua/ It's Honey-pepper, square bottles with red peppers inside: http://nemiroff.ua/vodka/medova/ IMHO it's a little bit overpriced here in Russia. You can easily find it, at least in "Russian deli" stores. I have seen it in California and Queensland.

My favorite Ukrainian vodka brand is Soyuz-Victan, http://www.sv.ua/en/main , especially their birch-bud stuff: http://www.sv.ua/en/products/nature/part110 It's one of the smoothest and tastiest vodka I have tasted.

Speaking about pepper vodka - beware, it's really hot! You have to chase it immediately with a pickle, sour cabbage, or other "vodka food", like herring, onions, salo etc. I like marinated marinated garlic scapes wrapped into thin slice of salo (salted pork lard).

This may be worth a try. Looks pretty daring...

Skip the intro

I've had that before Neubob... it's not bad, but nothing to write home about.

Call me crazy, but the classics are still the best in my book...

Stolichnaya ( frozen bottle - a small twist of lemon rind... heaven )

If I'm going non Russian...

Lastly... if you are looking for a real bargain...
Luksusowa is a Polish Potato Vodka that you can pick up for abou $20/liter, and it is actually VERY good. Don't let the price fool you... this stuff is excellent

Yeah, I pretty much figured it was a gimmick.
