Older versions of the 24 (and 17 for that matter) would be good to have in my opinion for it's FSO and senario value.

Why add another heavy-bomber to the already superior plane set of American bombers?

Who else had heavy bombers?  I'll agree with the lack of the Axis and Russian medium bombers, but there's only one heavy bomber left to add and no one of consequence wants it added unless its the last WWII aircraft available to model.

Stoney,

The Brits had heavies too.  The Sterling and Halifax were both produced and used in the thousands.  The Strling was a dog though, and the Halifax very similar to the Lancaster in capability.

Those all fit solidly in the "medium" category.  Obviously they have a place in-game, just didn't think they fit the definition of "heavy".  I forgot the Halifax and Stirling, so I'll add those to the "heavy" category.  That means two heavies to add, and one heavy to postpone indefinitely.  By saying "who else had heavy bombers?", I was refering to all other countries other than U.S. and Britain.

Other countries did operate some heavy bombers or aircraft that could be counted as heavy bombers in limited numbers.

France:

Farman 224

Germany:

He177
Ju290

Russia:

Pe-8

Italy:

Piaggio 108

Japan:

H8K
G8N "Rita" in advanced prototype.

But only the US and UK seemed to go for the massive fleets of heavies doing raids in the hundreds or thousands.  For example, the biggest H8K2 raid I am aware of was a three plane formation attacking Darwin.

I think you guys suggesting other bomber airframes are missing a couple points.

1st This is my B24 (and 17 alowable ) thread! Get out!  hehe, J/k

2nd and more importantly, these models for the most part are already done. And would offer some easy scenario options, as well as more skinning options with almost no work to add to the already long list.
