    Carrier operations
If you’re on the 5” guns and you see a flight of Lancaster’s coming straight at the bow, what should you do?

1.   Fire off a couple of rounds to see if you could hit them.
2.   Ask someone to turn the ship
3.   Turn the task group yourself.

1. Bend over.
2. Firmly grasp your ankles.
3. Kiss your butt goodbye.

Some kind of action ought to be taken. Not that it really blows' my skirt up, but one of the problems' we encounter are those concerning people jumping sides' to find CV's, and take control of them to set them up for sinking. I've seen task force commanders' That will keep the CV long enough to either get it where it won't be of any use for hours, or steam it right into something like a PT spawn, or within range of a field with ords. At that point, They log from one country, and go to the other. It tends' to be those that are trying to boost their bomber scores, IMHO, rather than the hell-bent win the war types...Although, that has been the case too.

While not a huge problem, I agree. I am no skipper, and I do not take charge of task forces for that reason. I like to jump in a 5" gun though and nothing gets my goat more than those who do not understand how to use a ship. Everytime I get a target lined up it seems the carrier will be turned 180 degrees away. The concept of broadside is completely lost in here I think. If the enemy fleet is near it seems the group is turned facing away instead of crossing the T. CV's have two unused 5" guns because no one will turn them (the fleet) to face the enemy. I think there should be something done, maybe one of you ex-naval officers could offer up some basic tactical training or something. Manuevering the fleet in combat should be the task force CO's primary concern, not flying missions. If you want to fly, do it, just leave the ships to someone else.

I have been guilty of forgetting I had control of a CV. It would be nice if it automatically relinquished command if you left the area.  :aok
I have been asked many times to take command away from someone who was abusing it or just simply stupid.
Once I saw a guy steering one right thru some enemy PT spawns, asked him several times to move it, when I got no response I took it away from him and turned it away. About a minute later he comes on ranting and raving like a loon about it.  Well to make a long story short, he switches sides and ups from the next base flys all the way back to the base we have clobbered and goes straight for the goon (ME). Told his CO what a little raving loon I thought he was, he agreed and canned his butt. :lol

Around 7am EST, one player took command of 3 CV's..  What's up with that???

I agree.. Too many people steer the CV right into the PT spawns..  When I see the nme do that, I up a PT, or man the shore battery.  It's become my new "fun to do" pass time....

What irks me the most about CVs isn't about who is in Command, but rather, who isn't in Command. When individuals drive a CV into an Airfield without first taking out the Airfield's Ordnance, or the Surrounding Airfield's Ordnance, it is simply a receipe for disaster, in my opinion.
