Thirdwire - Wings over Israel

Anyone tried that?

I have Wings over Europe with the 56, 67, 73 wars MODs which are great fun. Is this worth buying over the old modded one?

btw, looking for info on the game I noticed there was a "dogfights" episode about the IAF. Epstein's remark at the end, about what he thinks of the F16 was funny:

Mosquito VI - twice the spitfire, four times the ENY.

I wish they would release an all out version, I would gladly pay top dollar to have all there standalone games combined into one sim, ala Janes Fighters Anthology.

My biggest issue with the series is the terrain compatibility, you have to do some work to get multiple terrains in one release. Add them all together.

There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

I thought Strike Fighters was very well done. Haven't tried the others, maybe I will.

The "Dogfights" episode was excellent.

Wings over Israel looks sweet, but I'm also interested in "First Eagles", also available at Thirdwire. Has anyone tried it?

I've seen it. Worst one of the series imo. The game is designed to handle fast jets, it just feels wrong with WWI or WWII planes.

What good WWI sims are around anyway?
I used to play DOA as well as the Red Baron, and had a blast....
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

I think the best current WW1 Sim would be Over Flanders Fields Phase 2.
It has Phase 3 coming out soon as payware, and while it is built upon CFS3 do not let that keep you from trying it out.

Bought it yesterday. The FM has been enhanced since VOE. Other than that it is the same game. Haven't tried the mods you mentioned, but WOI is great fun!

They are working on a Vista compatible version. The next installment of the series probably.
