AR-15 Owners (question)
« on: March 26, 2008, 08:31:15 AM »
I have had an AR-15 for awhile now, problem is I never really had more than a few mags for the weapon. I have been looking around the net for AR-15 mags and I want to try to find the best price and the best quality. I have similar postings on a few gun related forums, but I figured I would try here too.

So far the best deal I have found has been from here; http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/AR-15-Magazines-p/magazines%20dh%20gt30%2010pack.htm I know the D&H mags are pretty solid. I have two of them already. My question is can I get a better price? I am trying to buy 10-20 mags at once. The price above is around 11 bucks a mag. I am not sure if it is going to get better than that, but I thought I would try anyways.

I am trying to stock up so that if there is ever a time that we can not purchase hi capacity mags, I have plenty on hand ahead of time.

Before you buy, check to see what followers are in the mags.  I know the original USGI mags have a problem with the followers jamming in the mag.  There have been several iterations on the followers and the mags that I've got have the green follower, which I believe are a generation behind.  Mags with the orange followers are supposedly the latest revision, although I haven't been able to find any as of yet.

Kinda off topic, but do you use any mag pouches/carriers when shooting and if so, what kind?  I'm looking for belt mounted pouches/carriers (versus a vest style) and not sure what to get.

AR-15 mags are a dime a dozen. Plenty of makes to be had but remember that you get what you pay for. If your looking to buy on the cheap your going to get cheap mags that wont be reliable. I always try to buy factory mags and stay away from the after market stuff. They cost more but they are made better.

I bought 6 of these a few years ago and they have worked very well for me so far. They were a little stiff and the follower tended to stick a little when new, but I took them apart and hit the sides of the followers with some fine sand paper, reassebled and oiled them and no problems since.

Hornet33, the mags I am looking at buying are the same that came with my Bushmaster AR-15. So in effect they are factory mags. The only difference between the magazines that came with my Bushmaster and the ones I am looking at buying, are that the ones I listed above have a Teflon finish.

BGB, thanks but I like my 5.56 round just fine. Besides it is easier to find more stuff to hang off my Bushmaster with all the CDI points it has..

Thats pretty sweet. I was saving up for a CETME, but I think I'm going to save a little more and get and AR10.
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

That is a really great price.   I doubt you can beat that for new magazines.   You could probably find some used surplus magazines for less, but this looks like a great value to me.    I mainly use C Products magazines in my AR-15, but I've not seen them priced this low anywhere recently.

The best wesbsite for you to get more feedback on about this is:

Whatever you do, buy mags now, while you still can!!
