I lost the article but, I saw one that said that psychologists do not think it is possible for the kid's to actually have fully intended to kill the teacher. It mentioned the kid's brains not having developed enough yet to harbor long standing negative emotions. they thought it was more of a "be cool, bring a weapon to school" sort of incident, where the students were just trying to act tough in front of their peers.

we used to make up stuff and collect all sorts of things that parents didn't want us to have.  we even had "forts" where we "plotted"

I think this whole thing is really being blown out of proportion.

nothing would have happened.

Sure are a bunch of glass-is-half-empty kinda people in this room.  Didn't anyone else notice that a bunch of special ed kids formulated a plan, identified individual skills within the group, then used teamwork to put the plan into action.  And in comes "the man" to put the kibosh on it.  Really, what kind of message does that send?

:rofl I guess children being used as suicide bombers isn't the sign of violence impacting a society? :( I'll admit that there are people that aren't "right in the head" but they usually don't run around in groups and they usually aren't 3rd graders. Though i have to admit i have seen some adults act like 3rd graders. Also look at the stat's for chicago school children being shot since the first of the year. It's becoming an epidemic and quite a few professionals directly relate it to the acceptance of violence through movies, video games and t.v.. The gang mentality is also directly impacting younger and younger children as they start to realize earlier on in there lives that the key to power/control as they see it is as a group. My sister inlaw said they are installing video monitoring cameras in all classrooms, hallways, ect. And hireing security personel to monitor them and patrol the hallways. This is in a K through 8th grade elementary school. :O She teaches in a school in the suburbs of chicago by the way.
