A life saver
« on: April 06, 2008, 03:05:17 PM »
Yesterday our oldest daughter and grandson attended an event for the Boy Scouts at an area lake.
Before the event started my daughter was admiring the view of the lake away from the crowd when she noticed a young boy (5-6) had fallen in the water and was struggling for his life. She made it to him, couldn`t pull him out from the embankment. He was on his last efforts. She jumped in, found him and got him to the edge, but couldn`t lift him up and out of the water.
My grandson ran for help and brought a guy back that help get him back on dry land and to safety.
The Boy Scouts awarded her with a life saving award at the event.
We`re pretty proud of her.

Yes, she is my oldest of four daughters, all of which are adults now.(Yeah..yeah..I`m an old fart :) )
Makes Mom and Dad sort of beam with pride and puts a whole new outlook on the many, many hours we spent with out daughters at one lake or another.

Sierra Hotel for her! I bet her parents AND her grandparents are proud. You have good reason to be.

I bet the parents of the kid they saved are pretty dang proud & thankful as well. A pool lifeguard saved one of my kids from drowning years ago ~ he's still my personal hero, and will be every single day for the rest of my life.   :aok

Awesome.

She not only saved the child but saved an entire family a lifetime of grief.

Congrats to her and your grandson for both being so quick to react. :aok
