Actually this is well recorded on the net.  I should have added that virtually ALL firearms save a couple brands had major failures on my range due to high use, and only one or two brands DIDN't.  I can post hundreds of pics of not just Glocks, but Beretta's (locking lug breaking off nearly every 5000 rounds) and HK's etc

Several Glock models had a rail lug problem on a certain series of serial numbers from 2001-2002.  See http://www.gssfonline.com/hot_topics/framerails.htm from the Glock Sport Shooting Foundation.  Ended up being a machining problem with the machine that bent the rear rail lugs. It was making to sharp 90deg angle instead of a curving bend.

Those brakes will cause a blinding flash at night. To help combat that try usiing Hornady TAP ammo.
I prefer my XD45.

I am not aware of anyone using a lazer sight or flashlight on a gun that ended the fight.   At the range or out plinking.. they are both useless.   for the house.. just embarassing.

You're talking to one.  Normally I'd agree with you, but in the PSD field, a new use for pistol mounted lasers, usually the internally mounted ones, surfaced.  Most of the windows in our vehicles will only go down 2 or 3 inches due to the armor configuration, especially in the BMW's we used to use.  When you have a threat at close range, the easiest way to deal with it we all found was to crack the window down as far as it would go, lase the target, and engage it.  Understand that most if not all vehicles whether they were level 7 or level 1 armor do NOT have firing ports built in to their designs.

As for the weapon mounted lights, on a pistol, ya I agree I'd rather have my light source in my hand, since when entering an enclosed are, mainly rooms/etc, the easiest way to light it is to hit the roof with your light.  The reflected light lights up the entire space usually, not just the direction you would normally point your light.  Take that as your free tip of the day.  This way you can have your weapon covering your Arc instead of pointing at the roof, haha.

Also, Re the Glock weak rails, this is what I was referring to earlier as to the net and weak Glock rails.  It isn't just those years either, it is still a problem, although much less so.  The bottom line IMO is that plastic pistols aren't designed to shoot 100,000 rounds over a year, and they shouldn't be expected to.

gman.. I agree with you..  I was not looking at it from a military/police standpoint... for the rest of us.. the lazer is pretty useless and doesn't stop fights.. if we whip out the old pistol and laze someone...

That is called "brandishing" and it is frowned on.   I would agree with you that if we could put a dot on bad guys it would stop the fight.   It just doesn't happen to civilians is all.

Our vehicles are not armored and the windows go all the way down and..  we won't last long if we get in the habit of pointing guns out the window at people.. lazer or not.

I don't want crap hanging off my gun and I don't want anything on my gun that takes a battery.

Just like I like scopes but the rifle better still have fixed sights too.

Capt Obvious to the rescue: he meant that IF your nickname had been something related to breasts, a post named "some Photos of my Namesake" would have hence contained a pic of female boobs.

No flame war would have ensued and everyone would have been very happy (with the exception of TXMom... and if she had been, there isn't anything wrong with that...)

Thank you Capt Obvious :salute

I own a Glock by the way, can we be friends? :D
