No option to calibrate joystick in Windows
« on: April 11, 2008, 10:35:19 PM »
I've been having some problems with my X52. It seems to lose calibration more frequently than I think it should. Over the course of a gaming night (4 hours or so) I'll have to recalibrate 3-4 times.

I can calibrate in game just fine, however there is no option in windows to calibrate the joystick.

Control Panel - Game controllers. I have CH pedals and Saitek X52 (the problem existed before I got the pedals, but hasnt gotten worse since).

I select Saitek X52 Flight Controller from the menu, then click on properties.

Here is a screen capture of what I get.

http://www.esnips.com/doc/6e008946-5ef3-4ded-b69c-7f075e398d24/nocalibrate

As you can see in the Saitek X52 Flight Controller window there is no "Settings" tab. The Deadzone tab allows me to set deadzones for the analog inputs, the LEDs tab allow me to control the brightness of the LEDs, The MFD tab allows me to change settings on the MFD, the About tab provides a link to download SST software.

I AM using the SST software, although I dont think that would have any impact in having the ability to calibrate the stick in Windows.

I'm posting this here for starters, but if it needs to be moved to hardware/software I'll check there.

Where do I go to calibrate in windows?

Highlight the X52 and go to properties.
Once there you should have 2 tabs, if you click the settings tab you should see a calibrate button.

Test button shows movement, hats, buttons, etc.

The link I put up is a screen capture of what I get when I click properties. 4 tabs, labeled: Test, LED, MFD and About.

Found this on line "Within the Game controller control panel you cannot calibrate the stick as there is no need. It auto calibrates itself. "

As I recall you do the calibration once when you set up an axis and don't have to do it again. I've had to calibrate mine in game a few times but not in Windows since I set it up over a year ago. The CH rudder pedals I do have to cal in Windows on occasion.
