Hit sprites seen through terrain

I have noticed a few times lately when there is a battle going on some distance away from me I see white hit sprites hitting the ground, but the fight is on the other side of a low hill or something. It looks like the rounds finishing their trajectory on the far side, but I am seeing the sprites from the other side of the rise. I will get film.

It seems like hit sprites on ground objects (especially trees) from auto-gun emplacements will show through everything.
