B25H Rockets.
« on: April 22, 2008, 10:52:30 AM »
In one of my books it talks about how they removed the cannon out of most b25h's in the IBC operations as the crews found them to be of not much use so they swapped the cannon out for two extra 50 cals or included rockets here are some pictures note the locations of the rocket mountings in the bomb bay doors.

Problem is, that's probably a field mod which means it's unlikely to appear in-game
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

No in fact many b25's were fitted with many types of rockets they were done by Cal tech & multiple others, they were not done in the field. Also some of the b25s carried a glide torpedo as well.

Marine B-25/PBJ units had bomb racks and rocket points on their wings.  In fact, from reading these books you will discover the rockets were the weapon of choice for the low level attacks they were performing.

I suggest reading the following if you're interested in finding out more.

Because of the limitations of the current ordnance system, the only way we'll see rockets and torpedoes for the Mitchell is when we get the perked ordance system.

Uh i don't get the limitation your talking about, BF110 i fly all the time with the bomb and rocket load out, seems to me it's just a load out change in the hanger and then the modeling of the plane itself. Of course i'm not a computer programer.....though i did stay at a holiday inn once. :D

Search for Pyro's post in one of the numerous B-25Hs thread and you'll understand.

In the PBJ book, there are pictures with 4 HVARs on each wing. I'm not sure if that was the max though.

It would be nice per taking out hangers with the extra rockets...

I am not to sure on that I only posted pictures that I could see for a fact were b25h's I do have other pictures of wing mounted hvar's with 3 or 4 on each wing but I cant say for sure they are H models. Lets assume they are with all the other pictures I posted plus the wing mounted, that would give you about 14-16 give or take a few.

Most german planes were built with the intent of field modification due to flight of the day.  I really think HTC has missed this point on many planes.  Example double 50s in waist guns of b24 and b 17 were common.  109k had gondolas with 13.2 mg or 20 mm in field modified planes.  B17 c(which we do not have .had a 50 cut into the tail cone as it was normally stocked with bath tub type guns below fusalage in ventral position.  190s had the FF 20 mm taken out if the outer wings to have better performance against spits.  Some 190s didnt carry mgs in the nose but only cannon in wings.  The list goes on and on, and while HTC could not come up with alot of the variations, maybe to add a few would seem to be quit easy.  me163 had a duel 20mm option, instead of the 30mm supplied in game.  :pray
