When I was a kid in Waukegan, IL, there was a guy who owned one of the "Baa-Baa Black Sheep" Corsairs.  When they were filming the show, he rented it out and it was out in California.  When the show was cancelled, the plane came back to Waukegan where the owner, a VP of Sears in downtown Chicago, would fly it on weekends.

I could hear it from my room revving up before take off.  Wow, was it LOUD!  Then he would take off...and come back about an hour later--just as loud! I lived about 1/2 mile south of the airport.

Sadly, he bought a Spitfire and because he wasnt used to the reverse torque on takeoff of British planes, he crashed it on take off and died.  His estate sold the corsair.

Ive had a corsair itch lately. I love taking off from CVs with spare fuel and rockets only and raiding ords to protect my CV. I just love diving the thing at ground targets.

Didnt the Spitfire's torque work the same as American?

Depends on which Spitfire and engine.
