Joystick squeak
« on: April 23, 2008, 06:09:07 AM »
I was flying the other night and Sidey's constant 'parrot on my shoulder' wise-cracks about the squeaking of my joystick (which was loud enough to be picked up by my microphone when transmitting on vox) finally drove me crazy (the actual squeaking may have played some small part too). I decided that I must fix the problem immediately and as it was 3am the local hardware store was not likely to be open.

In order to solve this problem and rid myself of this frustration I eyed up what I had on my desk. One thing grabbed my eye..... Mrs Arch had left a Minty wrapper on the desk.... It's waxed paper, I thought, I'll give that a try.

I rubbed the outside of the wrapper around the contact point on my X52.... and viola! Soothing, succulent, satisfying silence.

For a cheap and easy solution to a most frustrating problem... try a packet of Minties.

This solution also has the added benefit of being totally dry and leaving zero build-up.

Bloody brilliant.

New meaning to the name squeeker!

Now you're a fresh, minty ex-squeeker.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

It's amazing I lasted so long with the squeak. It was awful.
