Tips: Running AH2 under Linux
« on: April 21, 2008, 02:04:15 AM »
Hello, I'd like to start a thread of Tips for Linux users that run AH2 under Cedega.

Use lightweight window manager instead of full desktop

Install simple window manager like fluxbox or icewm. It may save you about 100MB of RAM (or even more if you use: compiz/compiz-fusion)
It will also remove any kind of "scheduled tasks" that Gnome/KDE/Xfce run. The game play will be soother.

So when you want to play AH2 just logout and login with fluxbox and enjoy the game. After finishing just relogin and get to normal environment

This will be especially useful if you use Desktop Effects under KDE or Gnome (that uses graphics card as well).

Use qjoypad for mapping keys/axis to keypad

On some joysticks "hat" is shown as an additional "stick". You can map this axis changes to numpad keys using qjoypad. You can setup
several maps for different games. Works perfectly well (for me).

It is very useful tool.

Can you make this thread sticky?

I need more comments from other users to be sure this is going to be helpful.
