First off THANKS to Ghosth who acted as assistant CM and Nash aswell as Zigrat, who acted as Allied repectively Axis COs.
Ok now to the Report:
Attendees: 52
RAF: 14 (27%)
Luftwaffe: 38 (73%)
Design Split was 30/70
the RAF No.249 Squadron at Malta was slightly under strength (1 person)
Luftwaffe Internal Ballance:
7 - 109F4 of JG53
5 - 109F4 of II./Jg3
Total 12 -> 31%, design 25%= 9

The LW had their internal ballance a bit off in respect of too many fighters. The ballance wasn't all too easy tho and given the relatively few pilots, one or 2 people in the wrong spot make a huge difference in the percentage. A factor with this is that right now we can not see who's flying what in the roster.. that might help, or having rooms that show thier own roster like the AW3 briefing rooms.
After action Report:
T+0 Frame startThe Spitfires of No.249 Squadron scramble and form up over the field, climbing on a northerly heading to setup a Barrier CAP north of Malta.
At the same time, the 7 BF109-F4s of JG53 make a roaring liftoff and form up at Licata Airfield, immediately heading for Malta and the anticipate CAP.
Meanwhile JU88s of KG77 and II./LG1 are lifting off from their Bases Palermo and Catania, as well as the BF109s of II.JG3.
The C202s of 86a Sq. Caccia are having problems getting off the ground due to heavy morning fog that is only slowly raising. Some of their pilots make it up thru the murk, some give up because they can't see their hands infront of their faces and so they "accuire" some cars from locals and race to Palermo where they "borrow" 3 more C202s from another Squadron showing the true Ialian spirit.
T+5No.249 Squadron splits it's spitfires in 2 groups, one assigned to CAP the south east sector of Siccily , the other one the Lictata area.
The JU88s of KG77 and II./LG1 are heading for the center of Siccily to combine their formations and meet up with their escorts.
T+10The 109s of JG53 get contact on one wing of No.249 Squadron. Quickly a furball ensues between the Germans and the British, with a prety even matchup of numbers. The Spitfires draw their first blood and so do the 109s.
In the next few Minutes the RAF manages to down 4 109s at the loss of 2 Spitfires.
T+15The furball with JG53 has dwarn the Spitfires dangerously low and therfore they start disenaging and regrouping about 10 miles north of Malta. Meanwhile the second wing of No.249 Squadron patroles the south east tip of siccily searching for the Junkers and their escorts out of Catania. What the Luftwaffe pilots donīt know is that The JUs and 109s are climing inland of siccily and that they are at this moment joining up their 2 formations over the heart of the island.
T+20The first group of C202 of 86a Squadriglia gets contact with the now regrouped Spitfires nortwest of Malta and engages immediately.
The ensuing Furball drages the defenders some 15-20 miles to the nortwest of Malta while the second wing is still in it's patrol area in the 15,7 secort to the north east of Malta. And right through this gap drowns the formation of JU88s and their escorts.
The Nimble C202s are worth opponents for the Spitfires in theri turn performance but they are seriously outgunned. But still 86 Sq. Gaccia Pilots can claim 2 Spitfires at 2 losses.
T+25Air-raid claxons are sounding off at MALTA as radar operators at Takali Airfield spot a massive incomming formation from the north. The 2nd wing of No.249 Squadron roares with wide open throttles to intercept the incoming formation, while the 1st wing still tries to disenagage and regroup so they can attack the Bombers.
T+30The next minutes are a blurr of whirling fighters all over Malta, as well as the twin engined bombers drowning overhead and screams of "INCOMING!!!" from ground personell at the Takali airfield and the La Valletta port facilities. The JUs can make their first approach on the Airfield and port facilities with relatively slight resistance and both targets recieve moderate damge.
T+35The RAF is fighting for their lifes now at low alt over Malta, but they are heavyly outnumbered by now. Still they manage to score several Luftwaffe airplanes.
T+40The last LW fighters are disengaging and RTB, the first JU88s drop into the pattern at Licata airfield for landing
T+50Frame end
SCORELosses:
RAF lost 14 A/C (1 disco) with 5 bailed and 1 ditched.
Points = 105
LW lost 8 Bombers and 14 Fighters
Points = 96 + 105 = 201
Luftwaffe mannaged to bomb both targets = 20
Both targets were damaged but not completely destroyed:
75% damge = 15 Points
50% damge = 10 Points -> EDIT* a second pass of the Reccon plane produced clearer pictures and it showed that the target was actually obliterated! = 100% damage = 20 points
Totals:
RAF 201 Points
LW 160 Points
Conclusion:
The LW won the battle but they have lost the war. Due to the fact that they lost so many aircraft the Frame is considered a "technical K.O." for the LW.
(Note: i would consider it a DRAW IMHO.. victory conditions might need some re-work.. remember it's my first design so be gentle
