Need some advice maybe

Just decided to do a lil upgrade, so I went to newegg and got new processor, new vid card and more RAM. Just wonderin' if there's anything special I would have to do while swapping out the processor. I've changed vid cards and RAM out before but never messed with the processor.

Upgrade:
AMD 3200+ to AMD 4000+ on 939 MB.
6600GT to 8800GS
1 GB RAM...got 2 more GBs.
Only cost me a lil over 200$ which was about my limit, so I figured I did pretty good.

Any advice before I throw this stuff in my machine would be greatly appreciated.

uninstall and reinstall drivers BUT...

thinkin there is something about the CPU and needing to change bios? or was it ....

Be very careful when removing the CPU heatsink, with AMD they use more thermal paste than needed, depending on age it almost doesn't come off.  Wiggle the heatsink side to side to loosen it, since the CPU is prone to coming out if you yank the heatsink out.

If you bought a retail package it probably comes with some thermal paste while the OEM version usually won't. If you don't already know from the numbers guys' post, you must use thermal paste between the processor and the heatsink.

PS. Try to find the init for your processor and back up everything before you start. Before you're done you may find it easier, if not necessary, to reinstall Windows and the drivers.

When you do apply the Thermal paste be sure to put enough.  By this I mean have a layer thick enough to fill all the air holes, but not so much that when the heatsink is applied it will seep over the edges, normally a paper think layer will do.  To apply it just put a little on the processor and then take an old ID card or something of the sort and lightly smear it enough ou have enough to cover it.

Also Easyscor is it really that hard to type "1701" not "numbers guys"?  If you don't know what 1701 is you must have missed out on a bit of stuff from 1966 and on.

As wrag mentioned, make sure you go to the motherboard site and check the Bios version you need for the new processor, you will need to update prior to removing the old processor if you have an old Bios.

I'd be careful on this, its more common to put on to much paste, not to little. I tend to use artic silver and a bead the size of a rice grain is plenty. To much paste can actually lead to pretty bad overheating...
