Flyboys in standard def
« on: April 25, 2008, 06:54:43 AM »
ment to post this the other night and forgot

One of my complaints about the movie "Flyboys" were the aerial scenes to me looked too computer generated.

Just watched this movie again only on a standard definition TV.

Odd as it sounds it looks a ton better in standard def

Just to me looked or maybe rather gave the feel of it being more realistic

I think maybe the computer generated graphics make it look too  clean in high def  for lack of a better term

It was better than Pearl Harbor. Which means it's at least watchable.

Only reason I watched Pearl Harbor was because Kate Beckinsale was in it.

I think the best WWI airplane movie is The Blue Max.

Aces High was rather good as well.
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

So in other words you were worshiping her "Pharaoh's tomb" .... I wouldn't worship it but I would like to see it up close and personal.

she doesn't have to be on film to be smokin' hot. That woman would drive me nuts as good looking as she is. I don't think I could get her off my mind if I was married to her. I have a hard enough time getting my wife off my mind.

One of the very few movies I got from Netflix, but couldn't bear to finish.

The plot (at least as far as I watched it) had Almost Every Cliche Ever Imagined, squeezed into the first half of the film. All they left out was the animated sidekick for comic relief, and the cute kid with glasses who helped the hero understand the true meaning of Christmas. For some reason, the idiots in Hollywood still haven't figured out a good concept may get their attention, but after opening weekend success requires a good STORY.

But what absolutely killed it for me was the horrible directing on the CG air to air battles. Even with the limitless possibilities of CG, they made every fight look exactly the same, with absolutely no effort to include the third dimension. I would have put up with an amateur story if they gave me the feeling of being in the air, but instead it felt like watching some kid play a good looking but simplistic video game at the mall.

Film was so disappointing that I have trouble thinking of anything good to say at all.

Wisdom is realizing I will be an idiot in the future.
Common sense is trying to not be an idiot right now
