An organized bomber mission
« on: April 26, 2008, 02:27:54 PM »
say... 15 B17s, 15 B24s, and maybe... 20 109s + 190s.

Bombers at 30,000ft, and in a tight formation.

Just maybe...

Okay, good point.  But they did have IL2s.   They carry a decent payload, and historically played a significant roll (don't quote me  :uhoh I thought I saw it somewhere they were called "Black Death" by German ground forces).

I don't think that I have seen an IL2 raid in AH before.  Maybe it is time for one. :rock

I've seen a couple of mass IL2 raids in the AVA back in the day. They didn't end well for the IL2s.

I remember one occasion, when the Finnish aviation museum had their annual Aviation Hobby Days, we dragged a couple of computers to the auditorium and presented AH2 flying to the people there with projectors. It was in the AvA, on the Karelia map, so it must have been October 2006 (as the Karelia is now going through some renovations). Anyways, we had some other Finns online and then Sasmox and myself at the museum. I organized an IL2 mission and Sasmox organized the Brewsters (err... FM2's) and 109's to intercept. It didn't work out as planned and the IL2's got through to Viipuri and bombed, I even managed to kill a couple of fighters and return to home base. It would have worked perhaps better for the audience if the Finnish side had had more success...

Panzzer, perhaps you know Dom another Finn who likes to fly?  He composes music in RL.  He's still playing in WB's to my knowledge.  Very nice guy.
